On July 1, the Netherlands have replaced the Eurovignette with a distance-based truck toll. Because of significantly increased fuel costs caused by the Middle East conflict, the aim of the dutch government is to ease cost pressure by reducing toll rates by 22.3 % from September 1, 2026, until the end of the year. The discount will apply equally to all truck categories, meaning that a diesel-powered vehicle and a zero-emission vehicle alike will receive the same reduction.
The Dutch toll applies to vehicles with a technically permissible maximum weight of more than 3,500 kg on almost all Dutch motorways as well as a selection of provincial and municipal roads. The toll network covers around 3,000 km.
