According to Ordinance No. 64 of May 26, 2026, changes to toll fees for vehicles over 3.5 tons will come into effect in Bulgaria as of June 1, 2026. Therefore, CO₂ emission classes are being introduced to implement the EU Road Infrastructure Charging Directive, and rates themselves are being increased as well.
As before, the per-kilometer rates depend on the number of axles and the vehicle’s Euro emission class. The new factor is the CO2 emission class. Tolls can be paid via OBU, GPS device, or route ticket.
