Our internal CO2 price currently stands at €65 per ton of CO2. Last year, this measure enabled us to invest over €2.2 million in sustainable initiatives. By 2025, we plan to increase the internal CO2 price to €90.
2,464 Tons of
Waste Emissions
In 2024, 2,464 tons of CO2 were emitted through waste. Our goal is to continuously reduce these emissions. Through awareness raising and the implementation of comprehensive waste management concepts, we minimize the environmental impact of waste and reduce our ecological footprint.
12,941 MWh Energy
from Wind Power
In 2024, we generated 12,941 MWh of electricity through the use of wind turbines. This sustainable energy production is made possible by our own wind farm in northern Germany, with which we make a significant contribution to the generation of green electricity.
33,097 MWh
Electricity Consumption
Gebrüder Weiss's global electricity consumption rose by almost 12% compared to 2023. Factors contributing to this include the expansion of our electrified vehicle fleet and the increased use of heat pumps in our facilities.
74% Renewable
Electricity
We already purchase 100% green electricity throughout the DACH region and in Serbia. As a result of this, the positive development of the share of green electricity globally, and the expansion of photovoltaic systems at our locations, the use of renewable electricity rose to 74%.
11.5% Electricity from
own PV Systems
In 2024, we were able to cover 11.5% of our own electricity consumption with our photovoltaic systems. This means that around 3,788 MWh of electricity was used from the systems. This corresponds to a proportionate own consumption of approximately 30%.
16,844 Tons of CO2
in Scope 1
In general, direct emissions (Scope 1) include all greenhouse gases generated within our company. In particular, by using HVO100 in our company-owned vehicle fleet, we were able to reduce our Scope 1 emissions by 26% in 2024 compared to 2023. Our goal is to reduce direct emissions by 60% by 2034, based on 2023 levels.
3,988 tons of CO2
in Scope 2
Emissions from energy purchases, such as electricity or district heating, are allocated to Scope 2. Due to the further expansion of our electrified vehicle fleet and the increased use of heat pumps, these increased by almost 8% compared to the previous year's figure. However, this increase did not change proportionally to electricity consumption, which grew by 12%. It can therefore be concluded that more green electricity and PV electricity was used.
1,673,476 Tons of CO2
in Scope 3
Scope 3 includes all indirect emissions that arise along our company's entire value chain and consists of transport services provided by partners, waste management, and business travel. The increase in this value can be explained by improved data integrity and better presentation options for calculating the emissions of our shipments.
