After signing the Stabilisation and Associations Agreement (SAA) with Bosnia-Herzegovina the EU-wide ratification process is in progress.
Thus, as the last Balkan country, Bosnia-Herzegovina has become a member of the SAA-countries, reaching an important step on its way into the European Community.
This is what the Economic Chamber Austria reports. As the Stabilisation and Associations Agreement (SAA) must be signed by every single member state before it can enter into force, a procedure which may take up to two years, an interim agreement entered into force on July 1, 2008.
The interim agreement covers the foreign trade and shall create a free-trade area between the EU and Bosnia-Herzegovina in the next five years.
A large number of tariff rates have been reduced.
