First Weiss-Rohlig launched office in Japan

Gebrüder Weiss (GW) continues to perpetuate its series of joint ventures and opened their first office in the ”Land of the Rising Sun”, such strengthening its position in a demanding and high potential market environment.

Weiss-Rohlig Japan Ltd. has started its operations as of 3 November 2008. Each of the partners holds 50 percent of the new enterprise. Mr. Kazuyoshi Fujiwara is head of the office located in the Tokyo city centre. The logistics expert is working in the transport and logistics industry for 35 years and has been with Gebrüder Weiss in Japan for the past seven years.

Joe Lässer, GW director Air & Sea says, ”With the new foundation in Japan, Weiss-Rohlig expands its international Network with a material hub in East Asia. This enables us to not only cover air and sea freight equally but also to meet individual customer requirements for logistic solutions within the network even better.” Lässer continues, ”We are in any aspect very satisfied with the results of the first three months."

Successful launch with a team of solely Japanese members

The Japanese market has an estimated huge potential – nevertheless, insiders say that challenges are high as well and Japan deems to be an extraordinary difficult market. Joe Lässer continued, ”For a sustainable success in Japan and customer base establishment it is essential to offer competitive prices and likewise meet Japanese service and quality standards. Kazuyoshi Fujiwara and his excellent local experts’ team are the best guarantee for success.”

Altogether, the Gebrüder Weiss Corporation, with headquarters in Lauterach (Vorarlberg, Austria), has more than 4,400 employees at 131 locations worldwide. In addition to the Central and Eastern European countries, GW is also represented in the USA, Canada, Dubai (the United Arab Emirates), Singapore, China, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. For the 2007 fiscal year, the logistics enterprise generated a turnover of 950 million euros.
