Since this past September, tectraxx, a business unit of Gebrüder Weiss, has been providing support to Unito Versand & Dienstleistungen GmbH. The experts in high-tech logistics not only deliver electrical appliances and consumer electronics, they also handle all related technical services – from returns handling to repair logistics.
With its large-scale service offensive in the hard goods segment, Universalversand broke new ground early in 2005. ”When we did that, we looked for a partner who could provide the newly-defined services at the level of quality we required,” explains Unito General Manager Hans-Jürgen Wester. tectraxx was given the nod. The GW business unit had already distinguished itself in the past with its end customer deliveries and servicing.Hand in hand
tectraxx steps in right after Universal or Otto Versand receives an order for electrical appliances or consumer electronics. Unito headquarters promptly forwards the information – and as of that moment, the logistics partner handles all the rest: pickup from the warehouse in Bergheim/Salzburg, distribution throughout all of Austria, scheduling delivery times with the customer, the actual delivery, set up of the equipment, functionality check and operational start-up, removal of old equipment, returns handling, repair logistics and even old equipment disposal/recycling.
Economical efficiency
Working together with Unito represented a challenge even for the experienced tectraxx logisticians. ”Up to that point, we had never taken on a project of this magnitude,” notes Bernhard Mandl, the business unit’s director. Elements within the tectraxx structure had to be tweaked in order to be able to additionally process the repair orders of the two catalogue companies which also come up. Following a successful test run over the summer months, full-scale operations started in September. ”tectraxx’s services and philosophy mesh 100 percent with ours,” delights Hans-Jürgen Wester. ”Not only that, but tectraxx can also provide these services more efficiently and thus more economically.” Periodic quality circles will moreover provide a joint review and refinement of the services.
