Slovenia’s new vignettes
09.2009
EU-pressure has made Slovenia issue new vignettes valid from July 1st on. What has struck the EU most was that so far only ”long-term” vignettes had been available. Since July 1st, 2009 vignettes valid for a month or just seven days are available. At the same time the six-month-vignette was abolished. The price for the one-year-vignette has been raised significantly. Now it costs € 95, - for passenger cars (formerly € 55,-), the one-month-vignette is € 30, - and the seven-day-vignette amounts to € 15,-. Motor cycles and lorries are also subject to toll charge.
The new, excessive prices charged for a comparatively small network of motor- and dual carriageways are still severely criticized by the EU.
