New Gebrüder Weiss logistics terminal in Bucharest

The GW logistics terminal in Bucharest which has already been in operation for five weeks was presented to the Romanian trade press in the beginning of June.

The 15-million-Euros-Terminal is right on the A1 motorway and optimally linked to the infrastructure. As of 27 April all operational and support services are located in the new terminal.

The new site has about 8,000 m² storage area, a cross docking area of 2,500 m² and 1,350 m² of office room for the 100 employees. In regards to security and EDV specific business tools, it is equipped with cutting edge technology. ”This is an exciting time for GW in Romania. We are convinced that we can offer our customers even better quality now after the relocation to the new site”, says Regional Manager Moser.

Country-wide distribution system
”Our logistics strategy provides our customers with the on-site portfolio for complex projects and individual needs”, says Country Manager Viorel Leca. Additionally to the logistics solutions strategy, focus is on the strengthening of the country-wide GW network. Four new FTL offices in Constanta, Cluj, Bacau and Sibiu, and two new cross docking areas in Bacau and Sibiu are in development. ”With our complex distribution system and the new logistics terminal in Bucharest, we are in the ideal position to make the Romanian market available to both national and international customers”, continues the Country Manager.

Investment program remains unchanged
Regional Manager Moser continues: ”Furthermore, we have purchased property in Arad. Until the new building is completed, we have moved into a rented site. This was necessary to be able to offer our customers of this fast growing region the traditional GW service”. In Sibiu the purchase contract for a property of about 30,000 m2 will also be concluded shortly. The property purchases in Aradand and Sibiu are part of the 100 million-Euros-investment-program in Central and Eastern Europe. CEO Wolfgang Niessner said at the GW press conference in Vienna that GW shall continue with their comprehensive investment program for now. Investments planned for this year come to a total of 34 million Euros.
