New GW logistics terminal at Pratteln
The 53 employees of the westernmost branch of GW group relocated to the newly built logistics terminal Pratteln at the turn of the year.
The 3,700 sq m terminal serves for the complete transport range as of 5th of January. Cuno Mattioli, manager at the GW branch Pratteln says ”From here we can offer our clients even more one-stop services” Mattioli continues with the announcement of an additional logistics area of nearly 2,000 sq m available for him and his staff ”with scheduled further possibilities for increment at a later stage”.
Extended performance portfolio
The size of the branch grew significantly due to the relocation of the GW location from Uferstraße in Basel to easily accessible Pratteln. More than triple the loading ramps are on hand and additional experts for air and sea freight complement the team at the new site. Mr. Mattioli states „Additionally, we have a new team for logistics solutions as of beginning of the year. This enables us to target the particular needs of our customers' needs even better." The takeover of Descatrans and MSV by the end of last year tops off the enhanced service package. The MSV experts for customs clearing continue to work in their offices directly next to the border of Basel Weilautobahn and will also continue to operate under the label MSV. The entire team switched to GW Pratteln.
Regional strength
Regional Director West and Managing Director for Switzerland, Roland Gander, says „Our investment in Pratteln once again underlines the important position of the west region. GW own branches cover Middle and Eastern Europe from Basel to Bucharest. The current economic development imposes challenges on us in Basel as well. Nevertheless, I am convinced that we and our team on-site will continue to provide excellent service, being the perfect starting position for a future positive development, even in difficult times.” Gander explains the chances the site may expect: „The new building allows the expansion of our capacity, both in package freight and part & full container loads. Additionally, new possibilities in expanding the combined road-rail transport between Switzerland, Germany and Scandinavia arise from the takeover of Descatrans. The MSV gives us further possibilities to offer our customers additional services in connection with customs clearing.”
