1998: With the development of the Internet services iSIS/iWIS, customers and partners are offered electronic tracking and tracing of shipments and information regarding the status of the goods at any time at the click of a mouse. The company's IT in administration is reorganised to SAP/R3 in plenty of time for the start of year 2000. The logistics software company inet-logistics is established a year later.
2000: A joint venture with the company Röhlig & Co., strengthens the company's position abroad with branches in Singapore and Hongkong. The branch network in China is extended with Nanjing, Beijing and Ningbo. A country organisation is founded in Croatia (Zagreb, Osijek, Karlovac) and expanded in the Czech Republic with branches in Budweis, Pilsen and Ostrava. The subsidiary company x|vise – innovative logistics is established for the area of logistics consulting.
2001: Acquisition of a majority holding in the freight forwarders Cargolog Bulgaria and Cargolog Romania. This allows Gebrüder Weiss in the Alps Donau region to extend its business operations from Basel to Bucharest. The express forwarding service "ORANGE on time" is launched in Austria. In China new branches are opened in Tianjin and Dalian.
2002: The holding company of Gebrüder Weiss is changed to an AG (joint stock company), but is still entirely family-owned. The daily newspaper "WirtschaftsBlatt" awards Gebrüder Weiss the title of ”Best Austrian family-run company 2002". The business unit tectraxx is established to provide logistics solutions with technically sophisticated services.
2003: Heidi and Paul Senger-Weiss are awarded the title ”Manager of the Year” by the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. The presence of Weiss-Röhlig abroad is extended to North America with five new locations in the USA and subsequently also in Canada. In China, an A-licence is granted for operation as a forwarder and logistics company. Tectraxx opens its headquarters in Neudorf, Vienna.
2004: Gebrüder Weiss is now also actively operating in Serbia-Montenegro. Weiss-Röhlig opens a branch in Dubai. The Chinese branch network is extended to ten branches with locations in Zhanjiang and Xiamen. Takeover of E.T. Logistics by tectraxx and integration in Wiener Neudorf. With this takeover, tectraxx launches the new product "Technical Services" including the repair of mobile phones.
2005: After managing the company for 36 years, Heidi and Paul Senger-Weiss assume positions on the supervisory board. Wolfgang Niessner as the CEO and Peter Kloiber together with the new directors Wolfram and Heinz Senger-Weiss are at the helm. Gebrüder Weiss is the first Austrian company to introduce e-customs. The package freight network System Alliance Europe is established with 15 partners. The branch network in Slovakia is extended (Banská Bystrica, Senec). New facilities are constructed in Austria, Germany, Hungary and Romania. GW’s subsidiary company x|vise opens a branch in Dubai.
2006: GW Vienna moves to the new GW terminal in Maria Lanzendorf with 470 employees. The Slovak forwarding and express service provider M&G is integrated into the GW organisation. GW Wolfurt invests 1.2 million euros in a steel and handling facility. The location in Wörgl is extended by 2000 m². Gebrüder Weiss is awarded the title of Austria's most popular employer.
2007: The usable area of the Memmingen location is tripled and a photovoltaic system is installed. New locations are opened in Taipei (Taiwan) and Montreal (Canada). GW starts an investment programme of over 100 million euros in Central and Eastern Europe. 4.8 million euros are invested in the Dunaharaszti location in Hungary.
2008: With the foundation of the new country organisation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, GW closed a gap within the Balkan region. Gebrüder Weiss is awarded the Austrian State Prize for the Orange Combi Cargo (OCC), a private block train operating between Vienna and Bludenz. GW also receives the Trigos Award, the Vorarlberg Climate Protection Award and an award for the best logistics and supply chain provider in Romania. Opening of the new logistics terminal in Bergheim near Salzburg. The Pöchlarn location was also extended. GW further expands Air & Sea activities with the acquisition of the Swiss companies AERSPED AG International and Freight Factory International AG. The third GW location in Hungary is opened in Hajduböszörmeny. GW opens together with its oversea partner Röhlig WR Japan in Tokyo and a new location in Chongqing, Chin. GW is the first transportation company in Austria to use trucks conforming to the Euro-6 standard.
2009: At the beginning of the year, GW takes over the land and logistics business of Hellmann Worldwide in the Czech Republic. The new logistics terminals in Bucharest and Pratteln (Switzerland) are commissioned, the 8.5 million euro reconstruction at the Maria Saal (Austria) location is completed. By entering the market in Macedonia and with its majority holding in Eurocargo in Serbia, GW is expanding its network in the Balkan region. Together with its long-term partner Röhlig, GW joins the Indian transport service provider Tricon and increases its presence in this growth market with 16 locations. Weiss-Röhlig also opens a new office in Thailand.
2010: GW acquires a minority interest in Diehl, a freight forwarding company in Baden-Württemberg and increases its majority interest in the Serbian freight forwarder Eurocargo. With the openings of the logistics terminal in Senec (Slovakia) and the new cross-docking terminal in Sibiu (Romania), two important construction projects are completed. By taking these steps, GW continues the Group’s strategy of further developing and improving existing networks and structures. The same goes for the Air & Sea departments: a new operative location in Atlanta as well as two new locations in China expand the global network. The joint venture Weiss-Röhlig celebrates its 10 year anniversary. The renowned rating agency Dun & Bradstreet assigns GW a top credit rating, confirming the company’s financial stability and extremely high creditworthiness. Gebrüder Weiss is the first logistics company in Austria to draw up a sustainability report in conformance with the internationally recognised GRI standard. 2011: In March, GW pro.line is launched. The new product line enables reliable and transparent transport handling of general cargo and groupage freight, according to precisely defined quality standards – Europe-wide. In June, the Basic product is enhanced with additional Premium services that guarantee a time-definite delivery. The successful ”Orange Tiger” campaign in India ends in March. It brings about a 51% increase in air and sea cargo volumes between India and the ”WeissLand”. In South America, the Air & Sea network is extended to include Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. As in the previous years, numerous sustainability projects are implemented, such as the first climate-neutral warehouse in Austria, the first gas-powered truck with a dual fuel engine and the purchase of a wind farm in northern Germany.
