Gebrüder Weiss invests another 8.7 Million Euro in the High-Tech Wels-Pernau Logistics Centre

Since completing the first phase of construction in mid-2005, Gebrüder Weiss is again investing heavily in the Wels-Pernau location.

The second building phase will be finished by the end of July 2006. GW has invested approximately 18 million Euro in the new Wels-Pernau logistics centre over the past three years.

Since December of last year, the existing logistics terminal with its 12,480 m² of office, handling and warehouse space has gained a new storage hall almost 6,000 m² in size. Enough space to store an additional 20,000 pallets. The investment for the building amounted to 8.7 million Euro.
After construction is completed, the Gebrüder Weiss logistics division in Upper Austria will have a total of roughly 4,000 m² of handling/block storage space, another 4,000 m² for order picking and two high-bay racking stores with space for 35,000 pallets.

”The location is ideal for transport as it is directly adjacent to an ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) terminal, just off the Innkreis motorway (A8), and close to the airport, and with its total area of about 125,000 m², there’s still room for growth in the future, both in logistics and in forwarding,” affirms GW Regional Director Reinhold Graßer.

The Gebrüder Weiss organisation
Gebrüder Weiss, headquartered in Lauterach, Vorarlberg (Austria), employs more than 3,900 people at over 134 locations worldwide. Last year, the logistics company generated total revenues of 789 million Euros.
