Lauterach - 13.10.2009
Since 12 October 2009, Gebrüder Weiss has its own office in Macedonia. In Ilinden, near Skopje, six employees are initially handling day-to-day operations. Thomas Moser, Regional Manager Southeast Europe: "This step enables us to offer our existing customers consistent quality and an efficient service from and to Macedonia. Also, our position as an independent operator allows us to establish our GW services more easily on the market." GW Macedonia is part of the country organisation in Sofia. One month after starting operations, services will include four transports per week from Sofia as well as two connections from Vienna. Marieta Grigorova, National Director Bulgaria: "We have found highly motivated employees who are all from this sector and will undoubtedly quickly adjust to working within the GW Group. "Without the outstanding commitment of our national director Saso Dimoski, our entry into the market would not have been realised so quickly." With the start of operations, GW Macedonia provided customs clearing and distribution services to well-known customers such as HP, Daikin, Grundfoss and Bosch. Moser sees strong development potential for Macedonia particularly in distribution and procurement from and to Western Europe. The regional manager is of the opinion that warehouse logistics and logistics solutions will increase in importance with the influx of countries from the west. Medium-term plans now include expanding the range of services and launching a proprietary logistics system.
