A new terminal in Slovakia and the ground-breaking ceremony in Romania

In 2008 Gebrüder Weiss invest € 51 million in the extension of their Eastern European network. Parts of this investment programme are the constructions of new logistics terminals in Romania and Slovakia.

On June 2, 2008 construction work began for the modern logistics terminal in Bucharest/Romania, which will cost € 15 million. Situated next to the main arterial route in the west of the city, the terminal will offer a handling and storage area of 10.600m2 as well as more than 1.300 m2 of office space after the first stage. In the end some 33.000 m2 of covered area will be available. ”We are happy to build at such a traffic centre. Moving to this new terminal has been planned for next spring”, Tomas Moser, GW Regional Manager South-East, explains. At the moment GW Romania has more than 100 employees. Last year they achieved a turnover of € 10,3 million. ”We strongly focus on the expansion of our national distribution network. In the last three months new offices have been opened in Constanza, Cluj, Bacau and Sibiu. We also create additional handling areas in Bacau and Sibiu”, Moser adds.

In Slovakia the new logistics terminal in Senec near Bratislava is being built. It shall replace the present locations in Raca and Senec. The project will amount to some € 12 million. Completion has been scheduled for November 2009. ”We invest in Eastern Europe to be able to offer our customers solutions within our seamless organisation”, the manager concludes.
